Have an appointment question?

  • Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns?

In order to give you the full attention of our experienced consultants, appointments are highly recommended.

  • How long is my appointment?

Bridal appointments usually run 60-90 minutes. Please arrive on-time because there will be appointments following yours. Also, you do not want to arrive too early with out calling to confirm first, as we may be assisting an appointment prior to yours.

  • What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring pictures of dresses you have seen on our website, on Pinterest, on Instagram or that you have tried on elsewhere. And bring an open mind: do not be surprised if you find “THE ONE” on your first visit to J Bridal. We also recommend that you bring the proper undergarments (i.e. strapless bra, spanx, corset, etc) and heels to your appointment.

  • Who should I bring to my appointment?

Bring the closest friend or family member whose opinion you value and who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your gown. Bringing more than 4 others can take the focus off of you. Many times this can lead to too many opinions, making you confused and unable to vocalize to your entourage what it is that YOU want! We recommend you coming back with your entourage after you have already found your gown. At this time you can show them how great you look and feel in your gown!

  • What is the price range of the gowns you have in your boutique?

We have five different EXCLUSIVE designer collections that we carry in our boutique. The gowns start around $1,800 and go up to $5,000+. The average price range of our gowns falls between $2,200 and $2,700. To see more detailed pricing for each designer, please look at each one on our Collections Page. If you are looking for designer gowns at a discount, please view our Sample Sale.

  • How far in advance do I need to buy my gown?

It is best to allow 9-12 months before your wedding to order your wedding gown. If you would like to order sooner, that is fine too.

  • What size gowns are available for me to try on?

Most of our gowns are sampled in European size 12/14. While they may be too large or small for you, don’t worry! Your consultant will help you get a sense for each gown, by pinning back in areas that are too large or extending areas that are too small. We do also carry Curvy collection dresses that are mostly sizes 18-20.

  • May I take pictures of the gowns while I try them on?

We believe that pictures are necessary to get a true idea of how your gown will photograph. Don't get too picture happy though! Taking too many pictures can also be overwhelming, so we recommend that you narrow down your top picks throughout your appointment and delete pictures of the gowns that you know are not "THE ONE".

  • When should I order my veil and/or headpiece?

Special-order designer veils have a 3-4 months lead-time, so making a decision at the time you order your gown is helpful.

  • Can I complete my entire look in one appointment?

Absolutely! Not only do many brides find their dress on their first visit to our boutique, but they also find all their accessories (veils, headpieces, jewelry, sashes etc) on their first visit too!

  • Do I need to make an appointment to look at accessories?

You may walk in at any time to try on any accessories in our boutique.

  • will I need to have Alterations on my gown?

In almost all cases, gowns will need some sort of altering to fit you PERFECTLY!  Alterations are an essential finishing touch to your wedding gown.  When you purchase your wedding gown, we take your measurements and compare them to the specific designer's sizing chart, and order the size closest to those measurements. Alterations are then needed to make your gown fit you perfectly. We are happy to refer professional local seamstresses, but we leave the final decision of who will alter your gown up to you!

Buying

  • What is a special-order gown?

All of our gowns are special-order. A special-order gown is made specifically for you by a designer, based on the measurements we take from you, the designer then uses their pattern that is closest to your measurements to create your gown. We then fit it to perfection for your body.

  • When should I expect to receive my gown?

Your gown typically arrives 8-10 weeks before your wedding date. The dress is delivered to us directly from the designer and we perform a thorough quality control check on each gown. We will then contact you to arrange pickup/ shipping and final payment (if applicable).

  • How do I pay for my gown?

We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa, as well as cash and personal checks. (Personal checks are only accepted for deposit, not final payment, unless gown is paid for in full)

On your special-order gown, J Bridal Boutique offers an amazing incentive to our brides when the gown is paid for in full; You will receive 10% OFF (up to $300) your wedding gown purchase. Another option available is to set up a payment plan, in which we require a 50% deposit at the time you order your gown. When the gown arrives at J Bridal and passes our quality control check, we’ll contact you to let you know it is ready for pickup. At that point, we require payment of the remaining balance.

If you have requested that we ship your gown out of state, your balance must be paid for in full before it can be shipped.

Fittings (Referred out)

  • When shall I schedule my first fitting?

Generally you will want to allow about 8-10 weeks before your wedding day to start your first fitting. Please keep in-mind that you will want to contact and schedule your alterations with your chosen seamstress several weeks prior to your first fitting to ensure their is an opening.

  • What should I bring to my first fitting?

You should bring the shoes and undergarments you will wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown properly fit through the bodice and hemline.

  • How many fittings will I need?

Usually, brides require 2-4* fittings to ensure a perfect look. After the final fitting your payment is typically due.

J Bridal would be happy to refer you to local wedding gown seamstresses, but we leave the final decision of who will alter your gown up to you!

Shipping

  • Will you ship my gown out of state for me?

Not a problem. We can ship a dress within the US and participating countries outside the United States. Shipping fees apply.

Other

  • What is a trunk show?

A trunk show is a special in-store event, lasting one to three days, where you can view and buy from a designer’s latest collection. If you find the dress of your dreams at a trunk show, be prepared to make a decision that day, as the gown may not be in the store once the trunk show is over.

  • HELP! I’m getting married less than 4 months – is it too late to get a gown from you?

No, it’s not too late, but every second counts! Your options include buying one of our samples off the rack or working with a consultant to determine which designers can meet your time frame for a "special order" gown, which could include an additional rush charge.

  • What is a rush order?

If your wedding date is sooner than the time we typically need to have a special-order gown made, we’ll need to consult with the designer and place a “rush” order, for an additional fee. In this instance, your gown may arrive 1-3 weeks before your wedding and details will be outlined in your contract. With a limited ordering timeframe, there will also be limitations on the dresses available for order.
